GLASS: Glass is collected in curbside programs in Brownstown and Crothersville and in the recycling drop boxes throughout the county, however it is not accepted in Seymour. Why? Glass has very little value as a recyclable material because the cost to make glass from virgin materials is relatively cheap. Also, the cost to transport this heavy material often outweighs the value of the product itself. The City of Seymour and the rest of the county have separate recycling contracts. Someday in the near future glass may not be accepted in the county either. FARMERS: Clean plastic wrap from round bales of hay and silage bag can be recycled. Animal medications and animal syringes may be turned in with the pharmaceutical and syringe collection program.
